|Description:||Position Summary: Preserves the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations governing applicable to the Credit Union, including the Bank Secrecy Act. |
•Daily arranges and agrees on alternative payment schedules for delinquent and charged-off accounts with members.
•Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current.
•Analyzes financial situations of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral, initiate foreclosure or take legal action when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
•Maintains accurate files and reports on all collection activity.
•Effectively works and maintains assigned collection queues.
•Ensures the collection activity is handled in a prompt and professional manner while adhering to all state and federal regulations (FDCPA), as well as, internal policies and procedures while controlling costs.
•Reviews and recommends delinquent and negative accounts for charge-off to Loss Mitigation Manager or Loss Mitigation Supervisor.
•Assists in miscellaneous projects including but not limited to 1099C/A tax form filing, debt sales, collection agency account assignments, and other projects as needed.
•Maintains accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity.
•Ensures that collection activity is both within credit union policy and all relevant regulations.
•Completes the required number of calls per day as defined by the Loss Mitigation Manager/Supervisor.
•Effectively skip-traces members/accounts when needed.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
•Minimum of three years collections experience required
•Intermediate knowledge of collections, bankruptcy, repossession, and foreclosure regulations required
•Working knowledge of collections, bankruptcy, repossession, and foreclosure processes
•Technical knowledge preferred
•Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFBP), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and its applicable rules and regulations
