Description:Role:
The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for overseeing strategic sales and growth for the credit union in order to increase revenues and meet member needs. This position promotes direct sales of credit union products and services as well as increased membership through the acquisition and penetration of SEGs and core sponsor groups. The Vice President of Marketing may represent the credit union in the community and with outside associations by participating in activities  and events to promote an awareness of Sooper Credit Union. This position would suggest changes in sales tactics designed to increase markets and market share to reach organizational goals and the credit union's strategic plan.


Duties:Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, monitor, and adapt a written plan to achieve membership growth and product penetration and
profitability in accordance with Sooper Credit Union's business plan and strategic initiatives. Prepare and implement an approved Marketing Department budget that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and financial status of the credit union.


Through subordinates, designs, implements and manage business development efforts to enhance relationships and market share growth within existing member groups. Through subordinates or individually develops new business opportunities through the acquisition of SEGs (select employee groups) and community charter membership. Oversees the account opening and in person cross selling process through the Marketing Supervisor.

Prepares and implements an approved Marketing Department Budget that is consistent with the overall Strategic Plan and financial status of the credit union.

Analyzes market trends and demographic data concerning members and potential members, products and services, and potential products and services. Keeps abreast of changing trends in the marketplace so that the credit union may react quickly and competitively.

Manages outside advertising and marketing vendor design, content, or delivery of marketing materials, marketing promotions, or media campaigns.

Creates and/or review letters, direct mail, press releases, newsletters, collateral materials, forms, email, etc.

Ensures that all marketing and public relations materials comply with State and Federal rules and regulations for the credit union. Keep abreast in changing rules and regulations.

Interacts with other member contact departments within the credit union to enhance marketing efforts and to expedite and enhance the member contact experience.

Is active in the community to promote business development and organizational awareness. Determine Vendor Partners through evaluation and review.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Experience: Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: A college degree

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary. The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills: Proven successful sales track record and knowledge of the sales process. Knowledge of credit union/financial products and services. Excellent  organizational and communicative skills, including written, verbal, and particularly effective speaking skills. Must be self-motivated. Able to communicate to both internal and external individuals and groups. Proficient in computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and Power Point. Able to operate a 10 key calculator, computer keyboard, typewriter and telephone.
