Description:Canyon State Credit Union, located in Phoenix Arizona, is seeking a seasoned executive to serve as Chief Financial Officer. This individual will be responsible for executing comprehensive financial strategies that optimize the credit union's balance sheet to maximize returns. The CFO will typically have day-to-day management responsibility for balance sheet/Asset and Liability management, treasury/investment management, financial forecasting, reporting and analysis, and accounting and budgeting. The CFO will plan, direct, and control the Credit Union's overall financial plans, policies, and accounting practices. The CFO will strategically lead all aspects of the Accounting Department, Enterprise Risk Department, and the Operations Department.



The successful candidate will hold a bachelor degree and have progressive management experience within credit unions or banks, with a minimum of two years in a senior accounting, controlling, or corporate finance position. The ideal candidate will also have thorough knowledge of credit union/banking industry, understanding of financial and accounting policies and practices and be familiar with related laws and regulations.

Duties:Major Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the senior management team and works collaboratively to achieve strategic goals and initiatives that maximize returns. This involves the following primary duties: Controllership duties, treasury duties, and economic strategy and forecasting duties. This position will also provide executive leadership to the Accounting and Enterprise Risk Departments.
Develops strategic financial plans that optimize the risk-based earnings potential of the balance sheet and includes formulating loan and deposit pricing. Interprets financial information and market/economic conditions and makes judgments regarding likely impacts on credit union operations, risk tolerance, and financial results.
Designs and implements robust financial systems for supporting credit union operations. Leads the annual budget, preparation, and administration process to control operating expenses and achieve the Credit Union's strategic objectives. Oversees preparation of tax returns and government reporting. Assists business unit leaders to make efficient use of resources and identify opportunities for improved performance within their areas of responsibility.
Monitors interest rate, credit and portfolio risk status and set limitations as required for Asset/Liability Management. Identify ways to reduce interest rate risk and sensitivity. Provides detailed ALCO and Investment reports to Board and Executive Management. Updates the ALM policy in accordance with the NCUA rules and regulations.
Manages and optimizes the investment and borrowing portfolios of the company in order to achieve above average earnings and safeguards the assets of the financial institution for the customers.
Communicates with the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Committee, customers of management and individual customers regarding strategic recommendations, financial results and policies which effect the organization to assure that they are timely, accurately and adequately informed about matters which affect the financial institution.
Manages the financial institution's Risk Management program; acquires adequate and appropriate casualty and liability insurance coverage to adequately protect the financial institution from various types of exposure.
Oversees all required regulatory reporting to assure compliance. Serves as a liaison with the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions, NCUA, and independent auditors to ensure they receive the necessary information to perform their duties.
Represents the Credit Union on financial matters with industry, governmental, and regulatory organizations.
Participates as a member of the senior management team to create global strategic plans and tactics. Leads the Asset/Liability Committee and is a member of other committees/working groups as assigned.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, appraising performance of, and training employees within assigned areas of responsibility. Prepares employees for advancement through training, coaching, and feedback, with a focus on developing leadership and strategic skills.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO
