Description: | To support the financial management and operations of the credit union through the maintenance of accounting records and reports in a timely and professional manner. Also, performs accounting duties of moderate complexity in accordance with standard procedures and under moderate supervision. |
Duties: | ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To keep all assigned general ledger accounts current and in balance daily.
- Post daily incoming/outgoing ACH, VISA and Share Drafts transaction files according to credit union policies and procedures.
- Reconcile daily settlement activity for ACH, VISA and Share Drafts to the general ledger balances.
- Post daily deposits for cash letter availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve credit union member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
- Accurately measure, record, and report the financial performance of the credit union.
- Have a basic understanding of general accounting principles and comply with all regulations.
- Prepare daily and monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
- Learn other duties within the accounting/finance department to allow you to backup that position in the event of an absence.
- Participate in credit union business development and community volunteer opportunities.
- Adhere to all service standards as outlined in the credit union’s policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as requested or needed.

Qualifications: | KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply a range of data processing principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of ACH/EFT processing rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Attention to detail, highly organized, and ability to multi-task and manage time well is an asset.
• A critical thinker with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Above average computer skills required. Skilled with Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Symitar is a plus.
• Must possess the ability to apply credit union service philosophy when interacting with members and credit union staff and management.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Associate’s Degree or equivalent training and experience.
EXPERIENCE
2+ years' experience in general accounting. Credit union accounting experience is a plus. |
