As the Consumer Lending Manager you will:
Ensure consumer lending functions exceeds member service expectations by understanding the credit union organizational goals and key performance indicators and taking the necessary actions to achieve the desired results in the areas of member service quality, loan growth, and internal/external audits.
Ensure that consumer, credit card, and home equity mortgage policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet regulations set forth through federal, state and other regulatory agencies.
Manage the loan servicing functions for consumer loans, credit cards, and home equity loans including documentation review, credit disputes, ancillary insurance products, CPI process, payment processing, general ledger balancing, collateral review and delinquent property taxes.
Develop and implement department policies and procedures. Formulate and maintain a loan department procedure manual for consumer lending that is up-to-date with all regulations and requirements. Ensure staff training and compliance.
Manage employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance, and determining individual merit, incentive, and/or promotional increases. Resolve all staffing, coaching and performance issues, and training.
Direct and monitor the centralized underwriting of all consumer, credit card, and home equity loans. Ensure that the credit union has obtained the proper documentation to secure our collateral.
Underwrite and approve consumer, credit card, and home equity loans to include loans escalated for manager review while adhering to lending limits as applicable.
Responsible for prudent lending while representing the financial interests of both the members and the credit union, including timely turnaround of applications from various origination channels and performance of loans underwritten.
Manage and maintain lending systems in alignment with credit union requirements. Develop project plans, implement solutions, and troubleshoot errors and problems.

Qualifications:Skills / Requirements
Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school education or general education degree (GED). Some post-secondary education preferred.
A minimum of 4 years of consumer loan underwriting and credit experience with a concentration in auto lending and credit cards along with a working knowledge of student loans and DMV.
2-3 years experience in a supervisory or management role.
Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential for managing Centralized Loan Sales/Processing and projecting a positive image as a representative of the credit union. Approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actions, and follows through on commitments.
Requires excellent interviewing and interpersonal skills, ability to listen to members' needs and promote appropriate credit union products and services.
Work requires thorough knowledge of consumer loan policy, real estate loan policy, credit grading criteria, interest rates and how they are computed and documentation for each type of loan provided by the credit union.
Advanced experience with automated core banking and lending systems and MS Office required.
Considerable judgment and a high level of experience in making sound decisions is required. Must analyze complicated factual situations, apply functional principles and develop solutions. Includes appropriate people in decision-making process and can support and explain reasoning for decisions.
Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).
